BREAKING NEWS: Terror Strike Suspected After Explosions Strike London
BBC reports eyewitnesses speaking of what they have seen and heard from around London. JIM MILLINGTON, TAVISTOCK SQUARE:
“There's a bus, formerly a double-decker bus outside the BMA building and clearly destroyed by a bomb. And there are at
least one or two fatalities laid out on the pavement. It must have been on the bus because the top deck is destroyed and
what's below is not destroyed. It was a bomb on the top deck of a bus.”
BELINDA SEABROOK, RUSSEL SQUARE: “I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang, I turned round and half the
double decker bus was in the air. It was a massive explosion and there were papers and half a bus flying through the
air, I think it was the number 205. There must be a lot of people dead as all the buses were packed, they had been
turning people away from the tube stops. We were about 20 metres away, that was all.”
At 10.55am A doctor tells Reuters there are at least 90 casualties at Aldgate station
At 10.53am Home Secretary Charles Clarke makes a statement outside Downing Street about "dreadful incidents" causing
"terrible injuries". He says Prime Minister Tony Blair has been informed and advises the public in London not to make
unnecessary journeys.
10.49am Police say there are serious casualties, but no deaths are confirmed, Associated Press reports.
09.15am Press Association reports emergency services called to London's Liverpool Street Station after reports of an
explosion.
08.49am An incident on the Metropolitan Line between Liverpool Street and Aldgate is reported to British Transport

Scoop Link: BBC reports several people have been injured after explosions on the Underground network and a double-decker
bus in London. A police spokesman said there were "quite a large number of casualties" at Aldgate Tube Station. And
Scotland Yard confirmed one of several reports of explosions on buses in the city - in Tavistock Place - but said the
cause was not yet known. One caller to BBC Five said his friend had seen "the bus ripped open like a can of sardines and
bodies everywhere." PA also quoted union officials as saying sources had told them there had been at least one explosive
device on the Underground.
