Scoop Report: Labour Slips Further As Poll-Trend Begins To Bite
The latest Herald-DigiPoll has shown support for the Labour Party continuing to erode with party list support for
National rising, placing it in the box-seat to fight the General Election in September.
The Herald reported: "Today's poll puts National ahead of Labour by almost four points, with no more than 13 weeks to an
election."
New Zealand First continues to gain favour with party list voters. It registers at 11.8 percent in this poll. If this
result was matched on election night, then neither National nor Labour would be able to form a government without New
Zealand First.
Alternative coalition partners for Labour do not have the numbers in this Herald poll: the Green Party, United Future,
and Maori Party combined only bring in 8.4 percent added to Labour equals 44.6 percent of Parliament. National and New
Zealand First would pull in 51.9 percent of the vote, giving a right-centre-right coalition a clear lead. The ACT Party
looks unlikely to be re-elected.
The Herald poll results were: Labour falls 6.9 to 36.2 per cent, National is up 3.9 per cent to 40.1 per cent, NZ First
climbs 3.6 to 11.8 per cent, the Greens are up 0.7 to 4 per cent, the Maori Party is up 0.4 to 3.1 per cent, Act is down
0.6 to 1.9 per cent and United Future is down 0.5 to 1.3 per cent.
