Iran has just been through the first round of elections that produced no clear winner in the race for the Presidency.
However, most of the candidates were disqualified from running and power still remains in the hands of the supreme
leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Nigel Parsons from Massey University Palmerston North is on the line to discuss what kind of
democracy Iran has and what kind of is choice is being offered.
12:30 Hon. Chris Carter
Conservation Minister Chris Carter is in South Korea for the meeting of the International Whaling Commission. Japan is
pushing for a resumption of commercial whaling, which New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom are opposing. Those
countries opposing whaling won the first victory in preventing a secret ballot for the commissions voting. This allows
transparency, as Japan has been widely accused of bribing small third world nations with aid in return for their support
at the commission. Chris Carter is on the phone from South Korea at 12:30.

Former b stalwart Gemma Gracewood is now the producer of TV1’s late night art show Front Seat. She thought she had an
interview with elusive New Zealand artist Et Al all sown up. That was until the artist refused to do an on camera
interview and failed to respond to email questions after she said she would. She’ll be on the phone to talk about her
experiences with the evasive artist.

We here at bFM like to keep an open mind about most things. We’re not really tied to any musical genre, political party
or cheesecake brand. When it comes to religion we’re no less entrenched in our ways. So we thought it’s nearly time for
the winter solstice, why don’t we get some pagans in and have a chat about the shortest day. We checked out the yellow
pages and under the heading of Druids, Mages and Miscellaneous Magic Folk we found Chris the Druid from Devonport. He’ll
be getting supernatural in the studio at 1pm.

The EU seems to be in real trouble, first with the failed referendum in France on the constitution and now the spat over
the UK tax rebate. To give us an insight in what is going on is our old mate Dr Jim Headley from the University of
