12:00 bNews with Will. Weather and Surf with Noelle
12:15 Midwifery College (TBA)
In the wake of a case where a New Zealand woman gave birth to an HIV positive baby, the Ministry of Health has decided to introduce blanket, but voluntary, testing of expectant mothers for HIV. While this common in most countries it hasn’t been the policy here. The midwifery college has come out saying it isn’t sure that midwives have the expertise or the recourses for such testing. If we’re lucky, we’ll have someone from the college at 12:15.
12:30 Sue Bradford
The Green MP wants Section 59 removed from the Crimes Act. This would remove the defence of reasonable force in child abuse cases. The Greens and the Prime Minister say this will mean that the police will have discretion in prosecuting cases and those who genuinely beating their children will not be able to use the defence that they were disciplining their children.
12:45 Jonathon Milne
It’s another news flash from our man in Wellington Jonathon Milne.
1:30 Dr Christine Roke
This months Investigate magazine has come out with a article slamming safe sex campaigns in the US, Australia and New Zealand. It claims that condoms are not the cure all that these campaigns claim they are. To comment on this at 1:30 is Dr Christine Roke from the Family Planning Association.
1:45 The Mag Review with Kris Berger
Kris has the magazines. Probably something about sex, babies or children.
Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial.
