Armed Offender Callout Sees Shot Fired Outside Scoop Auckland Office
By Selwyn Manning – Scoop Co-Editor
Three people were taken hostage and their car hijacked on Sunday morning during an armed offender squad alert beginning in St Lukes, Auckland. A gunshot was fired outside Scoop Media’s Auckland Sandringham Road office as the car travelled at high speed with Police in pursuit.
The shot was fired at around 9:30am.
Shortly after several Police vehicles pulled to the curb and yelled at a group of harriers to get off the main road and continuing running down a side street. They did so.
A Police-chase ensued from St Lukes, down Gribblehurst Park, back onto Sandringham Road and through to west Auckland where further shots were reportedly fired at Police from the hijacked car.
The chase ended about 10:30am on the Northwestern motorway when the hijacked car collided with a pole.
At least twelve Police vehicles were involved in the incident including tracker dogs and Armed Offender Squad officers.
Two members of the public have been taken to Auckland hospital with moderate injuries.
