The Tuesday WIRE with Noelle McCarthy
Produced by David Belgrave
12:00 bNews with Will. Weather and Surf with Noelle
12:10 Arts Hole with Sarah Hopkinson
On at 12:10 to tell everyone about the show that she and some of her cohorts have put on. It starts tonight. If you miss it she’ll repeatedly ring you doorbell and runaway.
12:15 Dr Chris Wilkins.
Massey University’s SHORE health research unit is looking for those of you who are on the demon P. They’re looking for New Zealand’s 24 hour party people to take part in a study on trends in illicit drug culture. Why are they interested in those skinny buggers who don’t sleep on the weekend and keep pestering you for a light bulb? Find out at 12:15.
12:45 Professor Andrew Gurr
Shakespeare is one of those love-it-or-hate-it pieces of western culture. Some these days find the Bards work too unintelligible and others just can’t get enough of that sweet sweet iambic pentameter. If you were one of those kids that squirmed during English you may have found some solace in some of the more approachable rock and roll Shakespeare movies of recent years. Professor Andrew Gurr is an important scholar of the English language’s most famous playwright. He’s in New Zealand as the inaugural Dr Alice Griffin Fellow in Shakespearean Studies. He’ll be telling us what Shakespeare means to modern audiences at 12:45.
1:00 Gareth from Lil’ Chief Records
Gareth is the manager of Lil’ Chief records. He’s in the house respecting hip-hop flavours at 1pm.
1:15 Te Radar
Radar is a popular comic, columnist, part time philosopher and probably New Zealand’s favourite palindrome. He’s got a show on at the Comedy Festival about his wonder through Australia and East Timor. He’ll at 1:15 to tell us about the show and generally be smug and witty.
1:30 Green Desk with Green Dean.
Green the man is. Green Desk the show will be.
1:45 Mag Review with Kris Berger
The Irish-American magazine pact continues to hold this week. Experts speculate that with literature criticism this strained, it’s only a matter of time before the magazine peace is broken.
Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial. From the desk of Noelle McCarthy News and Editorial Director Radio 95bfm
