Today on The Wire
12:00 bNews with Rob. Weather and Surf with your pal Noelle.
12:15 Ian Wishart
Ian Wishart took John Tamahere to lunch last week and got a lot more than he bargained for. John dished the dirt on his
mates in the Labour party and the big cheese told him not come around for a week. The PM is blaming it on stress and a
liquid lunch. We ask Ian Wishart what happened at that interview and why he thinks Tamahere was so frank with him.
12:30 Willie Jackson
At twelve thirty we have former Alliance MP turned Maori broadcaster Willie Jackson. He’ll tell see his view on JT’s now
infamous interview with Investigate. Noelle will be asking him whether he thinks John will be in the dog box for good.
Also what does it mean for Maori vote? Will they avoid Labour at the polls if Tamahere is in the wilderness?
12:15 David McDonald. Iris Chang wrote The Rape of Nanking. The critically acclaimed book described the mass
rape and murder of 300,000 Chinese civilians by the Japanese military in 1937. In November she took her own life. Today
we speak to David MacDonald from the University of Otago. He’ll talk to us about Chang and the devastating effects the
study of history can have on its practitioners.
1:00 Arts Hole with Pocky.
Sarah’s be’n-down-pit in the Arts hole. It’s a hard slog in the art mines but it’s a lot more rewarding than panning for
sculpture. Today she’s got an interview with Matt Elwood about his show Pleasure.Satisfaction at the Michael Lett
Gallery.
1:25 The Green Desk with Green Dean. Dean’s back from his island hideaway and ready for action. This time
he’s brought a film crew.
1:45 Mag Reivew with Kris Berger.
More reading for your bog/coffee table recommended by Kris Berger.
