Last week The Whakatohea Iwi from the Eastern Bay of Plenty filed a claim for authority and guardianship over several of
their regions beaches. It’s the first such claim filed under the new Seabed and Foreshore legislation and is to be
considered by the Maori Land Court in the coming months. I began to do a bit of reading around the claim and the
legislation and it’s a fairly complex system to get your head around but one that affects all New Zealanders, so to
clarify the process and the legal side of things Andrew Erueti – a lecturer in law at Victoria University is coming on
the show at 12.30.

Unless you have been in a cave for the past twenty four hours you’ll know that pope John Paul the second passed away
yesterday, after 27 years leading the Catholic Church. Apparently there’s 1.1 billion Catholics around the world, Brian
Tamaki eat your heart out, and soon they will have a new leader, who will be decided by Cardinals who will descend on
Rome as is ancient tradition, and elect the 28th Pope. A New Zealand Cardinal is winging his way to Rome as we speak so
I’ve asked his right hand man to come on the show to talk us through what in god’s name happens next.

Been caught out by the Bus strike yet? I have… this morning I waited for 20 minutes for the Link bus, my ecologically
sound ride to work… and had to be told by a homeless person that my wait was in vain… so I thought we’d have a word with
their representative to find out what all the fuss is about, I presume its money they’re striking over, bus driving is a
pretty thankless job so maybe they’re just teaching us all a lesson? Who knows, Warren Fowler – the drivers
representative is coming on the show at 1pm to explaineth.
1.20 Behind the Scenes with Wallace Chapman, who I might add cut a dashing figure at George Clinton on Saturday night…
word is that Wallace got the funk.
