TV3 News Director Backs Quality Of Garner's Journalism
Scoop Report: The head of TV3 news has reportedly backed parliamentary reporter Duncan Garner after Labour MP John Tamihere yesterday delivered a stinging parliamentary attack criticising Garner's media ethics.
Tamihere accused Garner of bias, implied he was unfit to work as a journalist, and accused Garner of siding with ACT leader Rodney Hide during political and media investigations into Tamihere's dealings, taxation arrangements and a golden handshake, with Waipareira Trust.
Tamihere later faced an independent investigation and was subsequently cleared of wrongdoing.
TV3's Director of News and Current Affairs Mark Jennings told NewstalkZB Garner was just doing his job and there is no evidence to corroborate Mr Tamihere's claims.
Mr Jennings reportedly said he believed Tamihere was trying to deflect attention from the fact he took a golden handshake when he said he would not.
