Bush Isn't Interested in Fixing Social Security
By Angie Pratt
Bush Isn't Interested in Fixing Social Security. If he were, he would be willing to compromise. If George Bush really wanted to fnd a solution, there is plenty of middle ground to come together on.
The fact of the matter is that George Bush is intent on destroying Social Security. His real intention is to dismantle it. If he fixed it now, he would have no excuse to push through his Private Accounts scheme.
The Democrats are ready to compromise. They are ready to solve Social Security's financial deficits. They are not ready however to grant the rightwing Neo-cons their wish to drive a stake through FDR's New Deal.
It is Republican rigidity that is causing the polarization in politics today. Americans want compromise. Americans want solutions that are found in the middle. It is the Republicans who should be called on the carpet for their obstructionism.
Republicans need to quit grand standing. Enough of the smear tactics. Stop already with the fear scenarios.
Come to the table and compromise. Step up to the plate and fix Social Security. Do your jobs.
The whole world is watching.
