RE: Kevin List: Trouble At T'[NewsPaper] Mill
Dear Scoop,
Congratulations on such a comprehensive story on the way the new Herald on Sunday has been set up!
I must, however, correct your opening point. Deborah Coddington did not deliberately dob us in. She simply replied to the email we sent her, and copied Herald on Sunday deputy editor Shayne Currie into her reply, which claimed that the Herald on Sunday was the best thing that had happened to NZ journalism for years because it had bid up the salaries of "top journalists".
This was AFTER Rick Neville had rung me on Monday afternoon to ask if it was true that I had emailed another Herald on Sunday columnist, Michael Barrymore. I was happy to confirm that we had contacted all the Herald on Sunday columnists that we could. So Deborah's only contribution was to unwittingly provide APN management with an actual copy of the email I had sent out, through copying Shayne Currie into her reply to me.
All the best,
Simon Collins
