Scoop has received a response to an Official Information Act request detailing the till now secret ingredients contained
in the blue spray used by police in aerial spraying campaigns against cannabis plantations.
Scoop requested the list of ingredients after Green MP Nandor Tanczos raised the issue of cannabis users being poisoned
through the use of cannabis that had been sprayed. (see… Nandor to police: stop poisoning pot users).
Mr Tanczos complained that some unscrupulous cannabis dealers had been cleaning sprayed dope and the selling it on to
users. These users in turn were getting sick when smoking the cannabis.
In his release Mr Tanczos says:
Nandor, the Green Party’s spokesperson for Drug Policy, demanded that the police reveal what substance it sprays
cannabis plots with in order to study the health risks of the chemicals they use.
“The police have consistently refused to tell the public what’s in the spray,” said Nandor. “It’s not just the poison
itself, which is probably glysophate, but the other additives and compounds that are added to make it stick.
“Have the police done any research to see the effect of these chemicals when smoked?” he asked. “It would be ridiculous
to be poisoning cannabis users in order to ‘protect’ their health."

“I have also heard stories of people suffering headaches, throat damage and coughing blood. There needs to be proper
research, but we can’t achieve this until police come clean on the chemicals it uses."
In a letter to Scoop received last week Associate Minister of Health Jim Anderton has now revealed the ingredients.
They are:
Glyphosate 360 non-residual herbicide
Dessication Herbicide Adjuvant
Blue Marker Dye
Water
