Winter Blows Out: Springtime Arrives To Auckland
Photo-Essay: After a week of howling gales from the south, Aucklanders Awoke Today To Springtime In The City. Metservice weather forecasts suggest a mixed bag of weather for much of the country this weekend.

From Northland to Taranaki including Bay of Plenty, Taupo and Taihape - Mainly fine at first. Showers developing along the west coast later today and spreading elsewhere on Saturday.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay - Fine for much of the time. Clouding up later tomorrow, with patchy rain likely.
Wairarapa, Wanganui, Manawatu, Kapiti Coast and Wellington - A mix of fine and cloudy areas.
Central Marlborough, the Sounds, Nelson and Buller - Fairly cloudy at times. Risk of some rain until mid-afternoon Saturday.
Westland and Fiordland - Predominantly fine weather at first. Becoming cloudy south of the Glaciers tomorrow, with some rain in Fiordland and patches of drizzle further north.
Kaikoura Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland - Mainly fine weather although cloudy periods along the east coast from Timaru northwards.
For Chatham Islands - Mostly cloudy. Some drizzle, chiefly night and morning.
