Dear Editor,
Reply to reader's opinion titled--Deceptive Press Release by CCHR and Scientology
Daniel Smith in his opinion piece has revealed a level of paranoia that a psychiatrist would revel in. There are so many
claims of a defmatory nature that a lawyer would laugh. How could Scientology or CCHR ever incite murder and still be
around? Daniel you have lost it. The CCHR exhibition was viewed by thousands of people with less than 1% finding fault
with it, and even then it was not a dispute with the facts. I was involved with the exhibit and can say what people said
to me. Patients, psychiatric hospital staff and relatives of patients all confirmed what was stated in our exhibit and
further, praised us for the courage of presenting it. Sorry Daniel you are so wide of the facts and the truth that I
dispair for you,
Claude – New Zealand.
reader's letter attacking CCHRs "deceptive press release"
To Whom It May Concern:
I appreciate that you thrive on controversy, but as a subscriber who enjoys the alternative news and views provided by
your website, I am accustomed to that controversy always containing at least a little sanity. I was totally shocked to
see you publish the pure invective directed at Citizens Commission on Human Rights and Scientology and then to feature
it in "top stories". What are you nuts? There is not one single statement of fact or even hint of substance in this
psychotic "essay"! Just baseless accusations and some anti-religious campaigner preying on the ignorance of your
readers, most of whom are probably not very familiar with the organization of the Church of Scientology or with its
leading role in social reform.
The Church of Scientology (www.scientology.org), like SCOOP, seeks truth (www.freedommag.org) and works hard to publish
the truth and to reform society by pointing out and correcting abuses. The social reform group Citizens Commission on
Human Rights (CCHR www.cchr.org) works to expose and prevent mental health ABUSES and has no interest in harming
professionals of goodwill who do NOT engage in harming their patients.
We all enjoy the variety and yes, controversy that SCOOP brings our way. But hey - it's just destructive and counter to
the purposes of constructive political reform to forward a baseless attack on a religion and its social reform group.
Some nut reacted to a CCHR Press Release (which you didn't bother to print, did you?) with a rabid attack and you
somehow find this worthy of print? Come on! (please!)
Respectfully,
Scott Gordon - a Scientologist
