Israeli Terrorist Attacks to Escalate On Palestinians
By Genevieve Cora Fraser
The Israeli military's chief of staff General Moshe Yaalon (Bugi) announced on Army Radio March 2 that Israel Defense Forces will intensify operations in the occupied territories. According to Yaalon, "Anarchy has now taken hold in the West Bank and the Gaza strip." In response Yaalon has vowed to intensify operations, labeling all Palestinian attempts at resistance to deadly IDF assaults as acts of terrorists.
"In this kind of situation, attack is the best form of defense," Yaalon explained. "We will pursue the terrorists - whoever they are and wherever they are." Radio Army also reported that the army's top brass had been given orders to "eliminate as many terrorists as possible" ahead of an expected Israeli withdrawal from the south and center of the Gaza Strip as part of Sharon's so-called "separation plan."
According to Israel's Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, B'Tselem, "In every city and refugee camp that they have entered, IDF soldiers have repeated the same pattern: indiscriminate firing and the killing of innocent civilians, intentional harm to water, electricity and telephone infrastructure, taking over civilian houses, extensive damage to civilian property, shooting at ambulances and prevention of medical care to the injured."
Last week, Israeli Defense Forces staged a "Mafia-like" bank robbery in the West Bank city of Ramallah, confiscating around $7-9 million from 400 Palestinian accounts. Claiming the accounts were held by individuals, families, businesses and charities involved in terrorism, Israel vowed to use the money to further their "humanitarian" activities in Palestine.
