The Electoral Act 1993 is part of our unwritten Constitution. It is therefore a constitutional outrage that the
Government proposes to use its majority in Parliament to temporarily suspend, retrospectively, part of the Electoral Act
and effectively appoint one of its party members to Parliament.
The people elect members of Parliament, however inconvenient the Government might regard that to be. A by-election will
cost $350,000, but isn't the preservation of our Constitution and the Rule of Law worth that much?
