Yemen & Saudi Arabia Hand In Hand To Fight Terror

SANA’A – The Yemeni-Saudi Coordination Council concluded its 15th session in Sana’a, capital of Yemen last Monday. The
fight against terror, and security cooperation to curb infiltration and weapons smuggling to Saudi Arabia, were top
topics of the session.
The session has been co-headed by Yemeni Prime Minister, Abdul-Qader Bajammal and Saudi Second Deputy Premier, Minister
of Defense and Aviation, Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz.
A joint statement issued at the conclusion of the session, which lasted for two days, said the two sides, "stressed
their concern in strengthening security cooperation between them to serve security and stability of both countries in
the terrorism fighting ."
The two sides have signed several agreements on political, economic, security, and development and investment issues.
Last month, the Saudi and Yemeni interior ministers signed in Riyadh an agreement to enhance security measures at the
border to prevent arms smuggling and infiltration.
Asked, if there is U.S. sponsorship for the Yemeni-Saudi cooperation to fight terror, Yemeni Premier Bajammal said, “we
take care for ourselves and we don’t need others to take care for us.”
Bajammal highlighted the level of the bilateral relations between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, saying, " the security of the
Kingdom is the security of Yemen."
For his part Prince Sultan said,"further cooperation and coordination of efforts are important to protect our two people
from the risks of terrorism."
It is worthy mentioning that the council was established in 1975 to reinforce the bilateral relations between Yemen and
Saudi Arabic in different spheres of the co-operation such as economic and security fields.
