Auckland Apathy Over Rates Hike Will Disapate

Letter to the Editor
Given Aucklanders track record for apathy and disunity, the outrage and cries of "Civil Disobedience" over the Auckland Regional Councils new rates demands are likely to disapate as quickly as a disprin in water. Aucklanders repeatedly vote in a Minister of Auckland Affairs (Judith Tizard) who is simply spectacular in her absence as far as Auckland issues are concerned, and is never held to account by her Auckland Central electorate. Then they vote for a maverick mayor(John Banks), who seems genuinely disingenuous to the concerns of the citizens of his city. Aucklanders will instead fete him for his acclaimed "support" of Christine Fletcher-inspired Britomart in late July. Fact: the rates increases are outrageous. Fact: Aucklanders need to band together, and fight the collective fight, until they win this battle. Fact: they won't.
Yours faithfully
