New Zealand is currently experiencing a severe drought. Many farming areas have received no significant rain since
Christmas, and Hydro lake inflows were yesterday running at 54% of average.
The following is a day by day, 12 day forecast, for New Zealand rainfall taken from the NOAA medium range supercomputer
weather model. Rain is shown in the images as coloured lines, the numbers indicate milimeters of rain over a 12 hour
period.
According to the forecast the Far North will receive a fair dousing on Friday and much of the rest of the country will
get rain on Saturday. At the very end of the forecast period, on April 5, a front is forecast to bring rain to the
parched South Island hydro catchments.
