Malaysian PM Mahathir On Pre-Emptive Strikes

Published: Wed 4 Dec 2002 10:04 AM
Quotes from Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad regarding in response to recent remarks from Australian PM John Howard on a new policy of pre-emptive strikes against terrorism.
“If anybody fires rockets or uses unmanned aircraft to assassinate anybody in Malaysia we will consider that as a crime, and we will also consider that as an act of aggression, and we will take action against the nation which carries out such acts.
"It is not only disappointing it is arrogant. There are many countries in East Asia, all our Asian countries. This country stands out like a sore thumb, trying to impose its European values in Asia as if it is still the good old days when people can shoot Aborigines without caring about human rights etc. And these are the people who talk about human rights. But actually, for them, anything goes, including assassination.”
