Jeb Bush & Katherine Harris Victorious In Florida

Published: Wed 6 Nov 2002 03:56 PM
The President’s brother Jeb Bush appears to have been comfortably re-elected as Governor in Florida according to early results.
Recent polls in the State that decided the Presidential election in 2000 had shown Bush was in for a close race against challenger Bill McBride. However the polls appear to have been wrong.
With 61% of precincts reporting: John Ellis "Jeb" Bush has 1,860,184 votes (58%) to Bill McBride's 1,344,864 (42%).
Meanwhile in the 13th Congressional District of Florida, the woman U.S. Democrats love to loathe, former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris appears to have a comfortable lead over her rival with 97% of precincts reporting.
With Florida crawling with electoral monitors and lawyers it remains to be seen whether these results will be challenged.
