Louis Vuitton races canned today due to weather

Published: Wed 2 Oct 2002 01:20 PM
Weather has caused a postponement to today’s scheduled Louis Vuitton Cup races.
High winds in excess of the 18 knots threshold sent the race teams back to base. Cup rules state that wind must be 18 knots or less for at least five minutes before races can begin.
Oneword syndicate recorded 33 knots at the top of its mast.
The weather is forecast to deteriorate through the afternoon.
