Images: Alliance Chicken On The Campaign Trail

Published: Fri 19 Jul 2002 11:17 AM
Crackers the Alliance chicken returned to haunt erstwhile Alliance leader and new Progressive Coalition leader Jim Anderton at his home scratching ground in Wigram on Wednesday.
The Alliance candidate for Wigram, Sean Gourley, appeared with the 6ft tall chicken outside Barrington Mall.
According to a report in The Press, Mr Anderton was less than impressed that Crackers, whom he campaigned with in the 1998 Taranaki King Country by-election, had turned on him.
Crackers had been put out to roost since the by-election, however Alliance President Matt McCarten ordered Crackers to make the long flight from Auckland to Christchurch to peck away at Jim Anderton.
Stay tuned for images of Crackers at large during the final week of Campaign 2002.
