Declaration Of Independence Remembered
by Cincinnatus
July 4, 2002
It's time to cull America's laws by examining them in the light of the principles illuminated by the Declaration of
Independence along with its bill of charges against the Crown.
Some of the charges found in the Unanimous Declaration are as relevant today as they were in 1776. For example:
"He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our People, and eat out their
substance."
"In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions
have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a
Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free People."
I submit that Americans, smothered by unjust laws, must now petition for redress in terms not humble.
