Sludge Report #124
Peace Rain In The Holy Land
Given the state of the atmosphere in the Occupied Territories of Palestine and Israel at present it is in Sludge’s view highly appropriate that NOAA supercomputer forecasts for the Holy Land for Ash Wednesday are the best evidence yet of intentional weather activity this column has been able to produce, i.e. the pictures are the prettiest and the timing of the cloudburst is the most impeccable yet observed.
As the conflict escalates by the minute across the Holy Land, the death toll is climbing towards 1300 deaths, thousands more have been left injured and maimed in the war. Surely this is now enough destruction.
Sludge prays and hopes that these Ash Wednesday rains may herald a lull in the fighting, a pause during which the Palestinian and Israeli nations can reflect on the meaning that the land they occupy has for the rest of the world. Perhaps they may yet come to their senses before they precipitate an armageddon.
In an ideal world a cessation in hostilities for Ash Wednesday might be followed by a six week ceasefire for the Christian Holy Season of lent that follows.
Perhaps by showing their mutual respect for the pacifistic Jesus Christ, who is afterall a prophet for both the Judaistic and Islamic faiths as well as being honoured as the Son of God by Christians.
The sequence of eight images below show the latest short range NOAA Supercomputer rainfall forecast over Israel and Lebanon for a 48 hour period starting in approximately six hours. This period effectively lasts from the beginning of Ash Wednesday here, down-under in NZ, to the end of Ash Wednesday on the other side of the dateline in the Cook Islands. Each map shows rainfall over a six hour period in coloured contours.
