Team New Zealand's Viaduct Basin Base was open to visitors today to allow them to pay their respects to an outstanding New Zealander.
Friends and well-wishers from right across the international yachting community, as well as members of the public, laid flowers and signed the Book Of Condolence throughout the day. The mood was subdued as those who knew Sir Peter Blake talked quietly about their friend and shared their memories.
Murray Rae, father of longtime Team New Zealand Member Tony Rae, signed the book Of Condolence. Murray has been a great friend of Sir Peter's for more than twenty years and his son Tony has sailed four Whitbreads and five Americas Cups with him. Said Murray: "Just having known the man was..........." and there he stopped.
