More images of the environs of the most photogenic mountain village in the world taken by Norman Mackay .
Norman writes: “Its been a while since I last sent you some real photos, ie High Country New Zealand scenery. The scene has been somewhat dominated by the awful tragedy the happened in New York on the 11th September. The world is in dire need of some good news, and some pleasing views on life. Living at Lake Ohau in the south island of New Zealand, I can provide such relief with breath taking beauty that only exists in a pace such as this.”
1. Glen Mary - taken when my neighbour and myself had a day trip into the scenic Dobson valley. The photo was taken from the road leading to Glen Lyon station, which is the only High Country station on that side of Lake Ohau. It is very remote and extremely beautiful. Permission must be obtained from the owner of Glen Lyon station before you can drive into the Dobson. The owner being Ken Wigley whose family started Mt Cook Airlines earlier this century.
2. Splendid Mt Glen Mary - is a perfect mirror type of effect that you get on occasions here at Lake Ohau. It’s not very often that you see such a perfect mirror image, and I was lucky to be able to capture such a perfect shot. I have several other similar photos taken on the same day, each of equal perfection and beauty.
