More images of the environs of the most photogenic mountain village in the world taken by Norman Mackay .
Norman writes: “The weather is warming up at Lake Ohau, and Spring is most certainly in The air. There are few morning frosts, and the daytime temperature is reaching about 13C. We have had very little rain but the snow melt has started, so there should be more water for the lakes to top up. I have a Davis weather station installed in my house ( the same as Mt Cook uses, but with more sensors attached ), and I tend to have more faith in what it tells me than Television NZ...”
1. Middleton Reserve - taken on the 29/8 from the edge of Lake Middleton. This area is very popular with campers during the summer break, and we can see several hundred campers here over the Christmas period. The lake is used for jet boating,water skiing and swimming.
2.Early Morning Lake Middleton - taken on the 9/9 from the south side of the lake where it joins the sheep station Shelton Downs. With the lovely weather we have been having the lake looks quite inviting and my dog Jade would spend all day swimming in the lake.
