Published: Tue 1 May 2001 03:54 PM
May Day protestors have shut down Kentucky Fried Chicken in Manners Mall this afternoon. Several protestors were ejected by security before police took up position inside the fast food outlet.
Outside KFC a protestor said, “KFC advertises its food as nutritious, the truth is it is high in fat and salt and causes heart disease. KFC exploits workers and chickens.
“Congratulations everybody we have succeeded in shutting down KFC. This is the exact purpose of May Day. To shut down capitalism,” said a protestor with a loud hailer. “We rock, we have the power and we are in control.”
