Anna Kournikova Virus Warning

Published: Tue 13 Feb 2001 12:52 AM
There is a computer virus rapidly spreading with the attachment - "AnnaKournikova.jpg" and the subject line "Here you have, ;o)" with text "Hi: Check This!".
If you recieve the email, do *NOT* open the attachment, or the message. Delete it immediately.
The virus is reported to be spreading faster than last year's Love Bug virus. Scoop has recieved the email twice today already.
It resends itself to your entire address book if opened. Its not clear yet what effect it has on your hard drive, but has been reported to be able to crash entire servers.
The best way to stay up to date and avoid viruses is to bug and register a good virus scanner (such as Semantic Antivus) and get regular updates over the net - not to rely on the at best unreliable and usually slow technique of people forwarding emails to each other.
Avoid sending on any email message that asks you to forward it on to all your friends. This is often a sign that the message is itself a form of virus.
