In what is believed to be a world first, Beverley Johnston of Karori, Wellington will be flying into the new Millennium aboard a classic DC-3 with twenty-five of her best friends in time to see the new dawn in Gisborne.
FreshFood Services, distributors of Fagg's Fresh Coffee, called Beverley to advise she had won the Fagg's Fresh Coffee `Fly into the Millennium' competition of a lifetime.
"This is just incredible!" said Beverley, "I wanted to do something special for the Millennium but this is a great way to do it with my family ... what really makes it is the chance to take my best friends along for the ride".
As part of the Fagg's Fresh Coffee competition Beverley and friends will depart Wellington aboard the Pionair 1940s styled DC-3 affectionately known as `Dulcie'.
From 50kms off the coast of Gisborne, pilot Alistair Johnston will fly along the coast, into the fist rays of light at around 5.40am. "I can't wait to get up there" said Alistair, "it'll be an awesome sight!"
At Gisborne the winners will disembark for a champagne celebration of Millennium proportions - followed by a cup of good strong Fagg's Fresh coffee - the brand that will make their Millennium celebrations take off!
