Final Reminder - Electoral Roll Closes Tomorrow

Published: Tue 26 Oct 1999 11:31 AM
The electoral roll for this year’s general election and citizens initiated referenda closes for printing tomorrow, Wednesday 27 October.
Eligible electors must enrol by mailing their completed enrolment form with New Zealand Post or enrolling at a Post Shop by tomorrow. This will ensure their name is included on the electoral roll that will be used on Polling Day.
“Eligible electors can enrol at any Post Shop, or can get an enrolment form by calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56) or visiting the elections website at www.elections.org.nz,” said Electoral Enrolment Centre National Manager Murray Wicks.
Mr Wicks said that after tomorrow, electors would still be able to enrol to vote in the election but they would then need to cast a special vote on Polling Day. The cut-off date to enrol for a special vote is 26 November, the day before Polling Day.
“To save time and hassles on Polling Day, we are encouraging as many people as possible to enrol by tomorrow’s deadline,” Mr Wicks said.
