Electoral Roll Closes Next Week - Enrolments Low

Published: Wed 20 Oct 1999 08:57 AM
Some 340,000 eligible electors have just one more week to enrol before the electoral roll for this year’s general election and referenda closes for printing.
Electoral Enrolment Centre National Manager Murray Wicks said that eligible electors must enrol by mailing their completed enrolment form with New Zealand Post or enrolling at a Post Shop by or on next Wednesday 27 October. This will ensure their name is included on the electoral roll that will be used on Polling Day.
“Eligible electors can enrol at any Post Shop, or can get an enrolment form by calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56) or visiting the elections website at www.elections.org.nz.”
Mr Wicks said that to date, around 2,415,000 people had enrolled. This represents 87.7 per cent of the eligible voting population.
