STATEMENT BY:

FALINTIL ACTION:
Falintil is creating safe areas in East Timor. Ossu, Soibada, Barique, Same, Oi-Laluho, are controlled by Falintil. Ermera. Region 4 Falintil engaged Indonesian TNI. One Indonesian soldier was killed. Bobonaro. Exchange of fire between Falintil and TNI. No casualties reported. Vemasse. One Falintil killed, Indonesian casualties unknown. Viqueque. One Falintil killed and one wounded, Indonesian casualties unknown.
INDONESIAN TROOP BUILD-UP AND ACTION:
Baucau -- Indonesia is building up troops with about 14 armoured cars. Laleia -- A ship was in waiting yesterday. Troops backed by 30 armoured cars were driving the people from the seaside villages on to the boat, reportedly to take them to Atambua in West Timor.
KUPANG CONCENTRATION CAMP:
An East Timorese got a call out from Kupang last night to report that the soccer field there has been turned into a concentration camp. It is hell. Thousands of East Timorese are packed into a concentration camp, there are no sanitary facilities, very limited food, no shelter and continual terror from the military and their militia auxiliaries.
