The changeover to the 9th of September appears to have gone smoothly for New Zealand last night, reports the Y2K
Readiness Commission. However, the Commission cautions that issues might take some time to show up.
Basil Logan, chairman of the Y2K Readiness Commission said at noon today (9 September): “There have been no reports so
far of incidents arising from 9/9/99 from any of the key utilities.
“A number of utilities and organisations took the opportunity of 9.09.99 to test aspects of their processes for managing
Y2K. They report good progress and useful lessons learned from the tests”.
The Y 2K Readiness Commission will provide a further report at noon on 10th September. Should an incident become
apparent in the meantime, the Commission will provide immediate notification.
