Several hundred visitors a day are taking advantage of the mouth watering wine and food matched menus currently
available to view on Corbans website.
Almost 200 restaurants taking part in New Zealand's largest restaurant competition, the Corbans Wine and Food
Challenge, have their special three course wine and food matched menus posted on the site.
This is only the second year that the menus available in this prestigious wine and food matching competition can be
viewed on-line at www.corbans.co.nz Visitors to the Corbans website can view the menus either by region or by course.
"With such a large number of participants, this makes the challenge the largest restaurant competition ever held in New
Zealand," said Noel Scanlan, Corbans Wines Limited chief executive officer. "Publishing all the menus and prices on our
website makes choosing a dining experience even easier."
Restaurants of all kinds take part in the challenge, from ethnic cafes to trendy inner-city eateries to silver service
special occasion restaurants. "There is a challenge menu to suit every taste, budget and occasion."
"It's a value for money dining experience with a maximum price of $75 for three courses and three glasses of wine. Of
course, many menus are priced below this and diners do not have to have all three courses. They can choose to try just
one or two of the wine and food matches," said Mr Scanlan.
A panel of wine and food experts in each centre will judge the challenge. At stake is a prize package more worth than
$20,000 in each city. "While the prize is very attractive, restaurants also appreciate the prestige that comes from
winning the challenge. "It is recognised as the most sought after award for a restaurant to win," said Mr Scanlan. The
winner of each city's challenge will be announced after the conclusion of the month long challenge on September 4.
Reinforcing Corbans strong role in wine and food education, the Corbans website has become a showcase for the talents
of New Zealand's chefs with recipes from top rating television programme Corbans Taste New Zealand also featuring on the
site.
