Cypfa And Umbrella Groups Sign New Funding Contract
The Children, Young Persons & Their Families Agency (CYPFA) and umbrella groups operating in the voluntary social services sector have signed a new
funding contract for Fiscal 2000.
The umbrella groups are the NZ Council of Christian Social Services (NZCCSS), NZ Council of Social Services (NZCOSS)
and the NZ Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations (NZFVWO).
"All parties to the negotiations over the new contract are satisfied the agreement marks a new understanding in
relationships between them," CYPFA and the umbrella groups said in a joint statement.
"The new contract paves the way for stronger consultation and collaboration between Government agencies and the
umbrella groups," the joint statement said.
Contract highlights:
For Fiscal 2000, a $138,000 contract has been signed.
* Specific amounts of money are allocated to each of the umbrella groups for the purchase of their different
contributions towards the following services;
* A common quarterly newsletter to be distributed to the voluntary social services sector.
Co-operation on training packages.
Advice and information services to social service providers.
Further to the contract, formal processes for consultation and collaboration will be established between Government
agencies and the umbrella groups. There will be regular meetings between the umbrella groups and senior officials from
the Government's welfare, health and education agencies. This will create opportunities for the umbrella groups to raise
and address issues on behalf of their member agencies and allow greater community sector input into policy development
and implementation.
Also, a special study will be undertaken into the relationship between government and the umbrella groups - this will
form the basis for future funding and the ongoing relationship.
