Special Day For Bible

Published: Wed 14 Jul 1999 03:18 PM
This Sunday, 18 July, is Bible Sunday in New Zealand.
"With between 80 and 90 percent of all New Zealand churches recognising this annual celebration in some form, we can now say it is a truly national event for Christians in this country," said Colin Reed, chief executive of the Bible Society in New Zealand which sponsors Bible Sunday.
"The Bible is a cornerstone of the Christian faith and it is especially encouraging to know that, in spite of a reported decline in church attendance, this year Bible Society is having another record year in the number of Scriptures distributed around the country," said Mr Reed.
"This is a very positive and encouraging sign for the churches and for every Christian in New Zealand," he added.
