Beers brewed only for chartered clubs have won two major awards at the 1999 Australian International Beer Awards.
Charters Classic won a Silver Medal and Charters Draught a Bronze. Both beers were entries in the Light Ale section of
the competition.
Brewed for New Zealand Chartered Clubs members by Auckland Breweries Limited, the beers have only been available for
eighteen months.
New Zealand Chartered Clubs Chief Executive Roger Parton said that the achievement was outstanding and that all the
credit must go to Auckland Breweries. "They also won a gold medal in the dark ale section", he said. "It is obvious that
Auckland Breweries can compete internationally and produce a fist class beer that equals any in the world."
"Chartered clubs are delighted with the product and it is clear that our members tastes are of an international
standard. Charters beers are available in nearly 100 chartered clubs and the popularity continues to grow," Roger Parton
said. "Brewed for and drunk by Kiwis, by a brewery that is 100% New Zealand owned, Charters beers are obviously here to
stay".
