Situation: A weak cold front is expected to brush the east coast of the

elsewhere. Ridge conditions persist in most other places. Tomorrow and
Friday the high pressure ridge is expected to remain slow moving with
easterlies predominating in the far north. Also later Friday a cold front is
likely to move onto the far south of the South Island. During Saturday a
cold southerly outbreak should slowly move northwards over South Island
areas with pressures remaining low north of the country. The cold air is
expected to affect North Island places during Sunday as a new ridge spreads
onto the South Island.

WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE and TAUPO: Cloudy areas at
times from eastern Northland to Coromandel Peninsula today and thru until

conditions clearing elsewhere and frosty weather returning.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Fine apart from cloudy periods today and
tomorrow. On Friday cloud increasing from the south with rain spreading as
far north as the glaciers. Rain easing to showers Saturday then a clearance
working north. Sunday should be fine and clear in all but southern Fiordland
where showers are expected to return.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Showers in most places for a time today then showers
retreating to the coast and clearing inland. Tomorrow coastal cloud in the
south, elsewhere fine and frosty. Cloud increasing later Friday with showers
