Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A trough of low pressure should cross to the north of the North Island later today. A moist northeast flow covers the upper North Island. A high in the Tasman Sea is pushing a ridge onto the remainder of the country
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND and COROMANDEL PENINSULA: Mostly cloudy with rain about Northland spreading south during the day. Northeast winds.
WAIKATO and WAITOMO: Cloud increasing but remaining mostly dry by day. A few showers may spread into Waikato from evening. Northeast breezes.
BAY OF PLENTY ROTORUA and TAUPO: A mix of cloud and fine breaks with a few showers possible late in the day. Northeast winds.
TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, WANGANUI, MANAWATU and TAIHAPE: Mainly fine apart from a few cloudy periods. Southeast breezes.
WELLINGTON: Mainly fine with southerly breezes.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Morning cloud and the odd light coastal shower clearing and becoming fine with southerly winds easing throughout the day.
NELSON: Mostly fine with light winds.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Becoming fine with southwest breezes.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Mainly fine after morning cloud and coastal showers clear. Light winds inland and northeast breezes developing about the coast.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine inland with light winds. About the coast, cloudy at times with the odd light shower clearing and southwest winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cloud and fine breaks with a few showers becoming more frequent this afternoon. Southwest winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Rain continuing in the upper North Island but mostly fine and frosty over the remainder of the country At the Chatham Islands, Cloudy at times with southwest winds continuing.
