Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tomorrow.
For the north and west of the North Island from Northland to Manawatu, also for Bay of Plenty and Central Plateau: Showers and fine spells for the remainder of today. Tomorrow showers clearing and becoming fine.
In the east from Gisborne to Wairarapa: Long fine periods this evening but a few showers spreading from the main ranges at times. Late tonight rain developing about Wairarapa with colder southerlies. Early tomorrow rain working elsewhere then becoming mainly fine from the south.
Wellington: A few showers in the north this evening, elsewhere mainly fine. Cold southerlies with rain developing late tonight. Tomorrow rain easing to showers then gradually becoming fine.
Nelson: Showers about the western ranges becoming widespread for a time overnight then clearing and becoming fine tomorrow.
For the South Island west coast: Showers clearing from the south tonight. Tomorrow cloud increasing with rain spreading to areas south of the glaciers later.
Marlborough and Canterbury: Showers and cold southerly winds spreading north this evening with some snow about the Canterbury ranges to 400 metres tonight. Tomorrow showers clearing early in the day then high cloud increasing.
For Otago and Southland: Wintry showers with snow lowering to 200 metres briefly in the south. Showers retreating to the coast this evening and becoming fine and frosty inland. From early tomorrow cloud increasing, rain spreading from the west later.
For the Chatham Islands: Showers becoming less frequent tomorrow.
