Public statement on behalf of NZNO President Grant Brookes
It has recently come to light that a petition is circulating among members of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation
Tōpūtanga Tapuhi Kaitiaki o Aotearoa, calling for a Special General Meeting. The motion to be put to the proposed SGM
makes reference to the NZNO President, Grant Brookes. It states:
“That this Special General Meeting of NZNO expresses confidence in the NZNO President, supports him to serve his
three-year term in accordance with his 2018 election pledge that NZNO will be open and responsive to members, and calls
on the Board of Directors to work together for the benefit of NZNO members and the health of Aotearoa/NZ.”
I am representing Mr Brookes in legal matters relating to his role. He naturally welcomes expressions of confidence in
his leadership and agrees that the Board of Directors, which he co-chairs, should work together for the benefit of
members and the health of New Zealand.
My client will be making no further public comment at this time.
