Improvements and achievements celebrated in this year’s Quality Account
Work by MidCentral District Health Board and Central Primary Health Organisation to improve the services provided to the community have been highlighted in the 2017/2018 Quality Account document.
The Account provides a snapshot of the achievements MidCentral DHB and Central PHO have made throughout the year and offers an acknowledgement of the hard work and commitment staff display towards bettering community health outcomes.
The initiatives presented in the Account are a selection of the great work that has recently been completed or is currently underway. Examples in this year’s Account include:
Changes to our acute patient flow and clinical practice, including supporting improved access to specialist care, and enhanced support for older adults in hospital. This has led to a reduction in delays in care whilst in hospital and a reduction in medical admissions lasting over seven days.
The Together Project – a co-design process which has led to significantly decreased admissions of term babies to the Neonatal Unit and enhanced the all-important mum and baby time in the first few hours after birth.
Revision of the pathway for treatment of health issues arising from radiation therapy, acting to reduce patient wait times.
These and other improvement projects appear in the document arranged by Cluster. The Clusters are groups of services responsible for the design and delivery of healthcare within the Te Wao nui a Tāne (Integrated Service Model), our new organisational structure. More information on Te Wao nui a Tāne and supporting measures can also be found in the Quality Account.
Overviews of Serious Adverse Event reporting and our performance against the Health Quality and Safety Commission’s Quality and Safety Markers are similarly included.
The 2017/18 Quality Account is available on the MidCentral DHB website.
