Food safety warning on a second instant coconut milk powder

Date: 20 Oct 2015

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is extending its food safety warning on imported coconut milk products and coconut milk powder to include a new powdered product.

On the 16th of October, MPI updated its food safety warning that people with milk allergies or intolerances should avoid drinking some imported coconut milk drinks and instant coconut milk powder that may contain milk or milk products as these allergens are not declared on the label.

The warning now also includes:

• Ayers Rock Instant Coconut Milk Powder, 300g cardboard box and 1 kg foil bag, manufactured in Malaysia.

MPI’s Chief Executive has issued an updated statement under the Food Act 2014 warning people with milk allergies or intolerances to avoid the products which are itemised in the statement.

MPI Manager Compliance Operations, Gary Orr says these products are stocked in various retailers such as dairies, ethic food stores and specialist sports stores.

“All affected products are being traced and recalled.”

Milk and milk product allergen sufferers can subscribe to food recall information so they are notified of any additional affected products.
