Keeping up with appearances, New Zealand’s Changing Attitudes
Overdone, pricey, scary. Some of the words that may be thrown around at first mention of cosmetic injections.
Despite these clichés, the number of people getting cosmetic injections in New Zealand is increasing, with Botox® remaining to be one of the most popular non-surgical rejuvenation treatments in the country (The New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine).
Over 10,000 New Zealanders trust Caci clinic for their cosmetic injections. It’s not just for the rich and famous, everyday people come to Caci to help them look and feel more youthful.
Attitudes around looking good and the use of cosmetic injections were once charged with a negative stigma, but these opinions are changing and appearance medicine is becoming more prevalent in New Zealand. There is an increasing number of people choosing to have cosmetic treatments, in fact 80% of cosmetic injection users believe that Botox® offers better value for money than anti-ageing creams and moisturisers. The results are quicker, and last longer.
Caci founder Jackie Smith, believes there is no shame in people valuing their appearance. “We have all learned that we shouldn’t be vain, but at the same time we also know that we’re measured by how we look. When someone has healthy and glowing skin, confidence just soars and that flows on to everything else in your life.”
Caci’s Business Operations Specialist, Fran Caliari-Pearce, agrees and says the number of women across all age groups coming in for cosmetic injection consultations is increasing. “It’s not only for older clients anymore, younger women even in their mid-twenties, are getting cosmetic injections as a preventative measure.”
Fran adds that people are now more comfortable talking about their treatments, and the once secretive nature of cosmetic injections, is becoming more transparent. “When I started in the industry 10 years ago, clients were more embarrassed to tell people about their Botox® and fillers. I’ve definitely noticed the change in client attitudes and a lot more of them are happy to discuss their treatments with their friends and family”
In 2013 Caci saw a rise in cosmetic injection treatments of 13% and they are expecting to see a similar increase this year. Combined with attitude changes, another reason for this increase is Caci’s aim of making appearance medicine more accessible and affordable. At Caci treatments can be paid for in weekly, fortnightly or monthly instalments.
To ensure natural looking results, all Caci cosmetic injections are administered by Registered Nurses which have all completed an intensive training program in the administration of Botox® and dermal fillers.
