Exterior sealing to be completed
The Southern District health Board has approved further work on the programme to weather proof Dunedin Hospital Clinical Services Block.
“We began the work last month and now have the go ahead to complete the project,” Southern DHB Chief Executive Carole Heatly said.
The work, which will see scaffolding around the 7 story block, will cost $1.75M and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
It involves sealing exterior cladding, windows and parts of the roof, to ensure the building’s exterior is water tight.
“After recent issues with spot leaks around the building, including in the area outside out theatres, it is essential for our staff and patients that this work be completed,” Southern DHB CEO Carole Heatly said.
The work would be funded from next year’s budget and the Board will work through where the funds will be allocated from.
