Pressure Eases On Dundedin Hospital

Published: Fri 23 May 2014 03:08 PM
Pressure has eased on Dunedin Hospital today, but the hospital remains very busy.
One ward remains closed to visitors and admissions, while it is being used to isolate patients with vomiting and diarrhoea.
The hospital is extremely busy, with patients being informed where elective surgery has been postponed.
The public are being asked to go to their GP early, use the after-hours service and keep ED for emergencies only.
Family and friends are also being asked not to visit patients in Dunedin Hospital if they have, and for 48 hours after the symptoms are cleared because they can still be infectious.
“Services are returning to normal and we are getting through as much elective surgery as we safely can,” said Southern DHB Medical Director of Patient Services, Mr Richard Bunton.
