Au Pair Link receives top award from Heart Foundation
Tuesday, 25 March 2014
Au Pair Link has been awarded the top Pā Harakeke (Gold/Flourishing) Healthy Heart Award for each of its five Auckland licences - the first home-based education provider to ever receive the accolade.
The Healthy Heart Award for Early Childhood Education was established by the New Zealand Ministry of Health as a way of assisting ECE services to create an environment promoting healthy eating and physical activity to under 5s and their families.
The initiative, spurred by one of our Auckland Family & Programme Manager, Jess Rankin, involved documenting au pair learning stories which link healthy eating and nutrition to other areas of the curriculum. Other strands required to gain an award include implementation of a food and nutrition and physical activity policy, whānau participation and providing professional learning opportunities for our educators.
As a recipient of the top Pā Harakeke award, Au Pair Link has been recognised as providing a flourishing healthy eating and physical activity environment, extending it beyond our immediate ECE setting and into the wider community.
Au Pair Link is the first home-based education provider to ever receive the award.
