Ever thought about participating in a triathlon? Start training today for the biggest family triathlon in New Zealand. MidCentral District Health Board is one of the funders for the upcoming Whanau Tri Festival with Sport Manawatu.
The triathlon is being held at the Lido Aquatic Centre, Palmerston North on Sunday 23 March from 7.30am, with multiple options for participants:
•          Short course: 100m swim, 3km bike, 1km run
•          Medium course: 200m swim, 6km bike, 2km run
•          Long course: 300m swim, 9km bike, 3km run
•          Tamariki Tri: run, bike, water slide - for kids 8 years and under
•          Duathlon options also available for all distances (run,bike,run)
Free health checks, live entertainment and other stall holders will be at the event.
Doug Edwards, Maori Health Advisor said: “Last year over 500 people participated and this year we would like to see that increase. Get the whole whanau involved and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle.”
“Whanau Tri is for everyone, no matter what state of fitness you are in right now, we encourage families to participate and cross the finish line, and it will put a smile on your face!” Hamish Meacheam contract manager Sport Manawatu said.
